Investigators have identified Baltimore native Andrew Lewis, 36, as the person who was rushed to Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore following a one-car crash on the interstate.

The crash was reported shortly after 8 p.m. on Monday, July 17, on outer loop Interstate 695 prior to Maryland 702 (Southeast Boulevard).

It remains unclear what caused Lewis to lose control and crash into a tree off the roadway.

During the investigation into the fatal crash, two lanes were closed on the outer loop for more than two hours.
